:bulletblack: Description
This image depicts an ODST risking life and limb to rescue a wounded child while taking fire from a low-flying Banshee fighter... all from the POV of the trailing Shock Trooper.

:bulletblack: Artist's Notes
Holy crap, what a HUGE learning experience! This image started with an extremely crude hand-drawn image (think stick figures... bad stick figures), and slowly worked its way to full-blown concept art. It was posted here on DA, but I wasn't content with the then-finished image, so I pulled it shortly thereafter and went back to (almost) square one. What you see is the product of 5 photos, 2 screenshots, and 11 total hours of slaving over a hot computer. There were so many flippin' layers I actually got a "low memory" warning... a first for me. There was also a lot of homework done for this image: I studied dozens of motion-blurred photos here on DA to ensure the effect was applied realistically. I purposely left only the child's/ODST's face in-focus to draw the viewer's eyes to the subject of the action (and the emotional element). This artwork is a labor of love, both for the ODST fans and for the fans of my work. The concept art for this piece can be found here.

:bulletblack: Inspiration
Inspired by Neil Blomkamp's Halo: Arms Race and Bungie's upcoming title, Halo 3: Recon. Detail work inspired by OmeN2501. I listened to a continuous loop of Clint Mansell's "Aftermath" while creating the image to put me in the proper frame-of-mind.

Wow, amazing work CAUS7IC.

So many great things about it. I love the focus on the child, the Banshee and dirt explosion and the hand of the POV ODST which has a nice resemblance to the "Starry Night" ad.

It also had a great amount of emotion to it.

Keep up the brilliant work.

Thank you for your kind words, AusQB. It really means a lot! I'm thrilled to no end that the image is evoking emotion... that was my goal from the beginning.

Amazing dude. And when you joined here you were talking about having nothing but crap compared to others around here. Pft. Seriously dude, you need to show me some pointers I think. =)
